What Should a Victim Do if Approached With a Settlement by an Insurance Company?

When an insurance company approaches a victim with a settlement offer, Chris Kreeger’s advice is to politely turn it down. He explains that the insurer wants your signature on a release of all claims. That release would permanently bar any future claim for medical costs or pain and suffering.

Why Chris Kreeger Advises Turning Down an Insurer’s Settlement Offer

I get asked this question weekly, and it’s the same answer every time: say, “No thank you.” The only reason that the insurance company is trying to offer you some money is so that they can get your signature on a release of all claims, and that will forever stop you from being able to make any future medical or pain suffering claim. So my advice is to say, “No thanks”.
